Certified Wildlife Rehabilitator™

A mark of excellence you carry wherever you go.

Continuing Education Units (CEU)

Certification expires two years from the date of issue listed on the CWR Certificate and must be renewed every two years to remain valid. Certification Renewal Candidates must accrue and show proof of two CEU during this two-year certification period to qualify for renewal.

CEU may be obtained using any of the following methods:

- 8 hours of attendance at an approved wildlife-related conference = 1 CEU
- 8 hours of attendance at an approved wildlife-related training class or workshop = 1 CEU
- Presentation of a paper at an approved regional or national wildlife-related conference = 1 CEU
- First or second authorship of a paper published in an approved wildlife-related journal = 2 CEU

Classes, workshops, conferences, symposia, and journals used for CEU must be approved by the Certification Review Board. A list of approved CEU can be found below.

Continuing Education Units may be earned incrementally; for example, one can receive 0.5 CEU for attending a 4-hour training class from the approved list. Acceptable proof of attendance includes a certificate of completion or a receipt signed and dated by a representative of the event coordinator. Only CEU obtained during the Candidate's two year certification period will be accepted for renewal purposes.

If a Certification Renewal Candidate has attended an event or published in a journal that is not listed as approved, s/he is encouraged to submit a CEU Approval Request Form. However, the Candidate bears all risk in case the event and/or journal is not approved by the Certification Review Board.
